The Alpha III slitter-rewinder from MGE is part of the Webcon range of fully-automatic and semi-automatic converting machinery This semi-automatic slitter-rewinder has been designed to rewind materials rapidly and consistently at speeds of up to 800 metres per minute, claimed MG Electric

The Alpha III is said to be a versatile machine with a number of configuration options.

The Alpha III has a robust 'A' frame design with low loading of mother rolls for safer loading and reduced chance of movement during operation, said the company.

For operator safety the mother roll is loaded from the rear of the machine where subsequent rolls can also be safely stacked.

A pneumatic braking system is used to slow and stop the machine between operations and a foot peddle release to remove finished rolls.

The Alpha range of machines also incorporates a system that allows for the web tension to be accurately set.

According to MG Electric, unlike centre driven converting machines where material tension can vary, the Alpha III is surface driven to maintain accurate tension, resulting in clean cut, straight finished rolls.

Electronic sensors measure the finished roll length, which can easily be set by the operator with an electronic counter.

Slitting is carried out by razor and the machine can be configured to slit once or multiple times with a minimum slit width of 20mm.
