MGE Worldwide has developed a new fully automatic perforating rewinder suitable for various types of film called the Epsilon VI.

The Epsilon VI will be running at CMM 2005 from April 18 - 21 April in Chicago (USA) where MGE can be found on stand 2503.

There will also be an opportunity to see the machine in action at IPEX 2006.

MGE will also be exhibiting at Embaxprint in the Czech Republic from May 17-20.

Key to the design of the Epsilon Vi is an alternative braking system that is said to improve production rates at different roll lengths.

The Epsilon VI perforator is suitable for the production of both shorter and longer length rolls and supports a web width of between 250mm and 600mm as standard and gives a claimed production rate of two-three rolls-per-minute for 300m rolls said MGE.

Perforation is carried out using a bladed cylinder driven from the main unwind roller which ensures a clean and consistent perforation throughout the roll.

The new unit offers a choice of braking system, variable perforation lengths and increased production rates against comparable units and complements the existing range of semi-automatic perforating slitter-rewinders that MGE already produces for the film market.

"We wanted to design a new rewinder that would offer two versions of machine [standard and perforating] in the one frame design, helping to keep the machines versatile.

The units are easy to operate and virtually maintenance free," said Mark Peacock, production engineer for MGE.
