The new 6kW Pressmate ink roller chiller from MGE has been built to provide consistent temperature control for medium-sized sheet fed presses and will be launched at Ipex 2006.

MGE said that the heat generated when running a press continuously at high speeds affects the behaviour of the ink and the quality of the print.

Pressmate manages the temperature by circulating a coolant through the ink rollers and out to a chilling system, therefore maintaining the press at a temperature suitable for optimum print performance and high production speeds.

Pressmate is a single unit dedicated to roller chilling and can be maintained and serviced to eliminate unnecessary press downtime and accelerate the return on investment, claimed MGE.

"The new unit is easier to access with a detachable, multiple piece cabinet making it significantly more routine maintenance and service friendly and providing an excellent addition to our Pressmate range," said Simon Martin, MGE's technical director.

The Pressmate set of circulating, chilling and dampening units is the fifth generation of MGE ancillary print and press equipment.

All units are said to use high specification components selected for their international availability and have been designed to fit most press configurations currently available.
