A Neopost product story

Neopost's new DS-70 desktop folding and inserting system is claimed to combine flexibility with ease-of-use to bring increased productivity.

Neopost's new DS-70 desktop folding and inserting system is claimed to combine flexibility with ease-of-use to bring increased productivity.

Neopost said that another benefit of the DS-70 is its return on investment, with operating cost per day approximately equivalent to one hour's worth of an office employee's wages.

Said to be suitable for mid-sized to large users and mid-volume mailing companies that operate a small mailroom, the DS-70 has increased speed and greater volume capacity with a claimed 40,000 pieces per month inserted and up to 3,500 pieces per hour.

Flexibility plays a big role in the DS-70's ability to provide increased capacity and high productivity, added Neopost.

Unlike other machines that feature dedicated feeders, the DS-70 uses three multi-functional Flexfeeders to allow users to fold and insert any size document from any station, minimising workers' intervention.

Neopost said that the system's three feeders perform the functions of six.

They accept a range of document sizes, orders and textures, and can collate and nest documents before folding them, providing the most logical and 'intuitive' presentation to customers.

The DS-70 can also be interfaced to a postage machine to ensure that mailers are systematically folded, inserted and metered, providing all-in-one document processing, maximising project preparation and eliminating extra labour, wasted time and unnecessary costs, added the company.

Other productivity-boosting features are said to include increased envelope hopper capacity for less refilling and continuous processing, a feeder swap that allows reloading without any downtime, a Maxifeeder option that allows 1,200 document loading, or 325 BRE's from a single station.

Neopost said that there is also high capacity folding using Powerfold6 technology for less jams and crisp presentation.

The DS-70 is said to be suitable for a variety of mail applications including invoices, statements and collection letters, medical billing and insurance communications, such as explanation of payments.

The DS-70 is claimed to be easy for all users to operate without any time-consuming training.

For example, the system's centralised, full-colour touch screen control panel allows any user to start the system.

The DS-70 also provides the convenience and ease of allowing common jobs to be saved and repeated at the touch of a button, simplifying system set-up.

At the same time, Neopost added that the DS-70 ensures the integrity and accuracy of mail.

For example, the system's electromechanical thickness detection checks document thickness.

It also works with any colour or thickness, and it is not hindered by thick ink or smudges.

The DS-70 also features optical mark recognition (OMR).

Neopost's dual track OMR prints the same amount of marks on every form, which ensures that an ink smudge or accidental mark is detected as an error, not a command.

The errors are then redirected to one of two divert stations, and the system keeps flowing.
