Nexpress Solutions will be presenting new digital print systems, including live applications produced on its Nexpress 2100 press, accessorised with fifth imaging at Graphintro 05 in Barcelona (Spain).

The company's colour, coating and glossing are enabled by the fifth imaging unit on the 2100 press - allowing imaging providers to offer new applications, expanding creative opportunities to achieve high impact results claimed the company.

The machine is said to deliver a high-gloss coating to printed pieces for higher visual and marketing impact.

The glossing is a cost-effective near-line product that provides users enhanced image quality and productivity.

It features the near-line Kodak Nexglosser glossing unit, which achieves higher gloss than UV-coating processes, thus producing a photographic look and feel to printed pieces claimed Nexpress.

The colour gamut is also claimed to be 80 per cent richer than standard four colour offset process printing and improves the reproduction of spot colours.

It allows users to add a full or spot coating of the Nexpress clear dry ink, providing greater image protection and workflow efficiencies added the company.

It is designed to increase productivity and reduce damage to images, caused by the scratching and friction on finishing and bulk-mailing equipment.

It is also claimed that it can also produce an authenticating watermark, or communicate copyrights on proofs of portrait images, all in line! Nexpress also said that the integrated, near-line gloss coating means there is no need to print extra sheets as insurance for potential manual or mechanical errors that occur in traditional off-line coating process.

The Nexglosser units barcode reader determines the precise job requirements, reducing operator intervention and the chance for user error.

There is, in addition, greater resistance to spills and stains on printed pieces, providing better image integrity and longer life for documents that require more durability, such as book covers, brochures and postcards.
