Demanding requirements no longer worry Thomas Evertz, the partner and technical managing director at Digital Print House (DPH) in Hagen (Germany) since its installed a Nexpress 2100 digital colour press with a fifth imaging unit.

The company has also acquired a Nexpress coating system.

During Drupa 2004, Evertz attended a demonstration of the Nexpress 2100 press with a fifth imaging unit and the three new imaging unit systems - Nexpress colour, coating and glossing.

It was immediately clear to him that the technology would substantially enhance the company's capabilities said Nexpress.

DPH produces a full range of print from business cards to books-on-demand, as well as leaflets, brochures and dissertations.

It also has expertise in premium quality promotional items.

DPH's customer base is mostly publishing houses, industrial companies, and agencies, as well as some consumers.

For Evertz, the Nexpress 2100 is exactly the right solution for managing such diversity of jobs, added the Nexpress.

"Quite often we need to deliver finished products either the same day or overnight - even for clients outside of Germany.

The speed, the flexibility and the high printing quality of the 2100 press easily allows us to satisfy even the most complex customer requirements," said Evertz.

The 2100 press with its fifth imaging unit and Nexpress coater expands the company's application opportunities.

"It has proven to be an excellent investment for DPH.

Intelligent coating allows us to apply Nexpress clear dry ink as an additional protective layer - either over the complete surface or on parts of it.

That not only improves the appearance, but also protects the printed image," explained Evertz.

"Book covers and promotional material, especially greeting cards and post cards, gain a quality that is comparable to varnished offset print.

As another outstanding feature, this solution can also be used to produce graphic elements such as an authenticating watermark," he added.

DPH is collaborating with an offset printing business and that combination provides a technical competence that offers tremendous creative benefits to DPH's customers, added Nexpress.

The question is not whether to produce a job in offset or digital but to determine the optimal printing solution for each job.

The company understands that it is a solutions provider when it comes to cost-efficient print media.

Its 2100 press supports the company's strategy because there is no visible difference to offset printed materials.

"Offset printers are amazed by the quality of the coating and the digital output that we achieve with the 2100 press.

The press has provided a dramatic advantage in cost-efficiency, high quality, and quick turn-arounds," Evertz concluded.

DPH was founded in April 2004 and chose to go digital right from the start.

Its first equipment was a Kodak Digimaster 9110 digital mono printing system, which was followed by a second 9110.
