Web-To-Print Growth In Digital Production

Nexpress Solutions will exhibit a range of systems at the UK's Northprint exhibition.
The Nexpress stand - M466 - will highlight the Kodak Nextreme web-to-print exchange product, as well as the Nextreme DL-100 variable data software and the ORC concept (operator replaceable components).
A variety of print samples will illustrate the capabilities of the Nexpress 2100 digital colour press, as well as the personalisation effects made possible with Directype software developed by Sachsisches Digitaldruck Zentrum.
Nexpress said that web-to-print production and fulfilment is one of the fastest growing segments in digital colour printing today.
Nxtreme is claimed to enable print providers to offer higher value printing applications such as on-demand marketing and sales material, customised brochures and personalised catalogues, to generate new revenue streams.
Nextreme web-to-print exchange on-line web front end is said to facilitate faster production of printed products and increased efficiency in communications between customers and printers - 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, claimed Nexpress.
It is available through a site licence or on an application service provider (ASP) basis for printers who prefer not to host their own web-to-print facility.
International versions are available in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.
Nextreme DL-100 variable data software is an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that is claimed to run on most Apple Macintosh or Windows computers and is said to offer an easy entry in to the variable data print market.
It is said to integrate in to every workflow and creates full-colour print communications with variable text, images and database-driven charts and tables.
Designers can work directly with new or existing PDF files generated from their existing page layout software, such as Adobe Indesign or Quark Express.
Nexpress said it will provide examples of the results that can be realised with the fifth imaging unit on the 2100 press.
The Kodak Nexpress coating system and the Kodak Nexglosser glossing unit provide flood or spot coating as an additional protective layer to resist fading scuffing or print abrasion, or to add watermarks, or other design elements, added the company.
The construction of the 2100 digital press has 40 parts and assemblies designed as operator replaceable components (ORCs) for greater serviceability, said Nexpress.
At the show, the company will demonstrate how an operator can replace imaging cylinders, blanket cylinders and other parts in a few minutes, without special tools.
Routine maintenance is also simplified along with efficient ORC inventory management.
Northprint will be staged in Harrogate from April 19-21.
