Nexpress Solutions has enabled, one of Sweden's largest graphic arts firms, to increase its capacity for short runs and variable data printing with its new Nexpress 2100 digital colour press.

Nexpress Solutions has enabled, one of Sweden's largest graphic arts firms, to increase its capacity for short runs and variable data printing with its new Nexpress 2100 digital colour press.

The press has been supplied with a fifth imaging unit and the Kodal Nexpress intelligent colour and coating systems.

The press is being used for Intellecta's digital print group, Intellecta Docusys, and joins an existing installation of five Kodak Digimaster 9110 production systems.

Intellecta Docusys has facilities in Gothenburg, Malmo and Stockholm and produces in mono, as well as five-color digital printing, both web and sheetfed.

The firm serves customers in the industrial sector, such as Atlas Copco and Volvo, as well as the financial industry.

Those clients have many different target groups and require specific marketing materials that address the unique needs of each group.

Tord Johansson, sales manager at Intellecta Docusys, explained: "Our client Atlas Copco has a wide variety of customers, from small, personally owned companies to large multinational corporations.

They need to target their marketing materials and this is where we can offer flexibility and strong results." After looking in to other systems, Tord Johannsson recognised the strategic opportunities that the 2100 press with the fifth imaging unit offered.

He added: "The Nexpress 2100 equipped with the fifth imaging unit was the best solution in terms of quality and its capabilities for variable data printing.

The ability to offer our customers a fifth color or coating is also an important advantage." About 30 per cent of the jobs done on the 2100 press are with coating and the demand is steadily increasing.

One of Intellecta Docusys' specialities is printing manuals with four-colour covers and mono inner pages.

That is said to be an ideal match for the 2100's ability to add a flood or spot coating with Kodak Nexpress clear dry ink as an additional protective layer.

Tord Johansson noted that Intellecta Docusys' ability to do short-runs enables customers to have up to date material in the shortest time possible.

Johansson said: "They do not want to keep brochures and other marketing materials in stock for a long period of time - the information goes out of date quickly due to product development." The firm believes that it is well poised to respond to current market demands for even shorter run lengths and full colour.

It has the right IT systems in place to handle complex printing jobs, as well as efficient planning and implementation processes.

"Our knowledge base in CRM and IT, combined with the technical capabilities of our Nexpress systems, enables us to be an active participant in our customers' planning process for communication or marketing materials.

We are successful in our mission, to make our customers unique to their customers.".
