Strong Quarter For Nipson - Sales Up and In Black

Nipson Digital Printing Systems PLC has reported strong results for the first quarter of 2005 with overall revenues at GBP 7.8 million - a 17 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2004.

Nipson Digital Printing Systems PLC has reported strong results for the first quarter of 2005 with overall revenues at GBP 7.8 million - a 17 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2004.

Equipment turnover totalled GBP 3.2 million - up 62 per cent on 2004, with net profit for the quarter at GBP 0.1 million, compared to a net loss of GBP 0.3 million in the same quarter of 2004.

The company said that the good start to the year was fed partly by continued strong sales of the Varypress 400, the company's flagship product.

Installations of the press during the quarter included a new customer, MAR Graphics, a print and fulfillment operation in the USA, and Schagen and Eschen, an existing customer in Germany.

Nipson managing director Alfons Buts said: "Our strong investment in new technologies has generated significant momentum.

Innovative products such as the Varypress 400 and the Varypress 200 are fuelling our growth.

Moreover, the expansion of our sales organisation and distribution network in North America and China is already resulting in new sales.

The additional capital we raised through the secondary placement of shares in March 2005 has also provided us with adequate funds to further implement our growth strategy." In the first quarter of 2005, Nipson entered in to a distributor agreement with Pitman Co of Totowa, New Jersey (USA), the largest independent distributor to the commercial and packaging industries.

At China Print '05 in Beijing Nipson also launched its partnership with Syntax, its new distributor for the Chinese marketplace.

Syntax is the largest distributor in China for HP Indigo with over 100 employees and an experienced sales force providing full geographic coverage in all of China's industrial regions, added Nipson.
