Nipson will exhibit its digital printing presses at Print '05-Converting '05 in Chicago in September.

Nipson will exhibit its digital printing presses at Print '05-Converting '05 in Chicago in September.

The company will feature enhanced product technology including a new carbon drum and toner system for improved overall print production quality.

The proprietary drum and toner system can be retrofitted to select Nipson presses and is designed to extend the equipment life of customers' digital printing systems and substantially reduce operation costs, said Nipson.

The combination of new drum and toner in the Nipson engine is said to result in smoother, more even shading and accurate, repeatable images at high production speeds.

That allows for continuous halftone images suitable for print and book-on-demand applications.

Robert Stabler, the president of Nipson America, said: "Nipson is continually improving print quality and production speeds.

With the fastest productivity and the lowest cost digital mono printer on the market, we offer the economics of high-volume productivity, reduced operation costs and improved image quality." The new technology will be featured in the Nipson Varypress 200 running at a claimed 290 feet per minute - a speed increase of over 25 per cent - and the Varypress 400 running at a claimed 410 feet per minute.

Application demonstrations will showcase integrated printing, including variable data printing technology combined with traditional printing methods to achieve maximum productivity with halftone quality.

Nipson said that the Varypress has been quickly adopted by end-users in direct mail, security, transactional, label, print-on-demand and book on demand markets around the globe.

Since the launch of the Varypress 200 and 400 at Drupa '04, Nipson has reported increased sales worldwide and it anticipates an additional increase by the end of the year.

The company believes that the Varypress 200 is suitable for data-driven variable documents with high-print quality demand.

The Varypress 400 is a digital workhorse designed for applications requiring large volumes of variable data produced in conjunction with other pressroom equipment, added the company.

Stabler added: "Increasing printing volumes and streamlining operations can be achieved by integrating digital printing directly in-line with traditional high-speed flexographic and offset presses for a complete roll-to-roll solution.

The versatility, reliability and flexibility of the Varypress provide unique benefits for printers to cost-effectively add value to their product offerings and grow their customer bases." Nipson digital printing presses feature cold flash toner fusing, which Nipson claimed is a flexible non-heating technology that enables variable data printing in high volumes on practically any substrate.

Nipson's line of printers are also claimed to feature 600 dots per inch (dpi) output.

Stabler continued: "Printers are increasingly demanding personalised documents on a greater range of substrates, with more complex finishing requirements.

We are an ideal partner for efficiently integrating variable data in to any commercial, package printing, or converting production operation." The Nipson stand at Print '05-Converting '05 will be 12049.
