Nipson Digital Printing Systems has won the bid to supply high speed digital printing systems for the French treasury department, la Direction Generale de la Comptabilite Publique (DGCP).
Nipson Digital Printing Systems has won the bid to supply high speed digital printing systems for the French treasury department, la Direction Generale de la Comptabilite Publique (DGCP).
Two Varyress 400 TED (twin engine duplex) lines will be installed in the organisation's new production centre outside Lyon.
When the operation is up and running at the end of 2007, it will consist of a roll-to-roll configuration producing various transactional documents at speeds of up to 150 metres per minute (500 feet per minute) said Nipson.
DGCP will centralise its entire document production at this facility and it plans to expand the operation with four additional Varypress TED lines.
The tender was issued in the first quarter of 2005 with DGCP confirming its choice of Nipson Varypress 400s earlier this month.
The global turnover of this relationship will reach EUR10 million over three years when DGCP buys four additional integrated Varypress 400 TED lines.
Nipson said that DGCP the company's presses for their high performance, efficiency and reliability, reinforcing the press manufacturer's reputation in direct mail, digital books, business forms, and financial and transactional documents.
The new project also demonstrates Nipson's capabilities and experience in designing and delivering a complete system, which includes data distribution, personalisation of documents, highlight colour, micro perforations, and camera control, added the company.
The Varypress 400, like all Nipson systems, is based on magnetography, which is claimed to allow for faster, more reliable printing, as compared to other toner-based systems.
Nipson systems also use flash fusing to fix toner to the paper without heating the substrate.
In particular, the Varypress 400 is a tension-fed system, allowing it to more easily be integrated with other printing and finishing equipment, said Nipson.
Nipson was chosen to supply printing systems to la Direction Generale des Impots (DGI), the French tax authority, three years ago.
The company believes that the new contract reinforces Nipson's relationship with the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry as a supplier of reliable and efficient printing systems.
