Labelling manufacturer Norprint Labelling Systems has announced pre-tax profits of £175,000 for its past year of trading on sales of £18.826m.

Labelling manufacturer Norprint Labelling Systems has announced pre-tax profits of £175,000 for its past year of trading on sales of £18.826m.

The company said the results show a vast improvement on the previous year's figures and are a direct result of its strategic restructuring.

The restructuring has enabled Norprint to place a greater focus on its key markets of food, retail and the industrial sectors, it claimed.

"Our industry is currently going through some very hard times and it is good to see that we are performing well enough to make a reasonable profit in even the toughest of climates," explained Norprint's managing director, Alex Evans.

"A key focus on product development and the strengthening of our sales teams and customer service procedures have also helped to generate this turnaround in profits.

We have also invested over £1million on two new presses for our divisions, which are involved in the design and production of labelling products for the food and security sectors.

The company has also managed to incur no exceptional costs and managed its own finances most efficiently over the past financial year," he added.

Norprint believes it remains a market leader in the food sector and is gaining a stronghold in the commercial, retail and industrial sectors.

Norprint said it is also benefiting from its own product development, namely in the retail security sector, where its brand authentication and retail security products division, Nortag, is working with companies such as ASDA George.

The company supplies labels, tags and tickets, systems, software and services from its Boston (UK) production facility to over 3,000 companies throughout UK and Europe, producing over 6.7 billion labels each year.

The company's client base includes ASDA, Geest, Marks and Spencer, Revlon, Black and Decker, Jaguar, Sainsbury's, Ford and the Royal Mail.
