A range of new features have been added to Norprint's WLP2 label design and print software.

A range of new features have been added to Norprint's WLP2 label design and print software.

The feature include an improved installation program and interface, a new look for the date selection function, a right mouse click menu for quick access to the most used features and faster, easier access to stored label templates, claimed Norprint.

WLP2 was developed by label company Norprint's own software engineers and incorporates built-in drivers for popular label printers, such as Sato, Zebra, TEC and Fargo.

Andy Clay, Norprint Systems Equipment's software manager, said: "Our experience over the years with our user community, added to the fact that we are a label business ourselves, means that we know exactly what users of label production software need.

WLP2 will continue to evolve in line with feedback from our customers across the whole of our user base and will incorporate the latest developments in software and printer technology." WLP2 is said to incorporate all the database and media design tools any industry sector needs to produce its own labels on demand with dates, bar codes and any other variable data.

It supports True Type, Printer and Postscript fonts and can be used to create complex, as well as simple, labels.

Print queue facilities may be customised and options include online scanning and verification, said Norprint.

Norprint said it supplies many businesses in the food sector and WLP2 meets the specifications set by all the major supermarkets for pack and box-end labels and there are brand-specific features, such as Somerfield week and day codes and Morrisons 'Barmeno' font.

Date variations prevent illegal dates being printed.

Clay commented: "Almost every part of the program has seen improvements over the last 12 months, some small, others more significant.

Because of the changes, we are offering anyone who has earlier versions a free demonstration of the new program and will discuss the upgrade path needed to give our customers the best options for their label production." Other new features in the software include the addition of ellipse objects and database management improvements.

WLP2 can be licensed as a single stand-alone application, or as a network or site license - allowing simultaneous use from any station on the network, said the company.

Norprint added it can tailor the software to meet specific industry or business needs using their own software developers.
