Workflow System Links With Canon Digital

Canon USA has selected Objective Advantage to join the Canon Imagepress workflow solution programme.
At AIIM On Demand, Objective Advantage and Canon will demonstrate how print service providers can streamline and automate their digital production workflows and maximise their return on investment using Objective Advantage's OASymbio software and Canon's Imagepress digital presses As part of its participation in the Canon Imagepress workflow solution programme, Objective Advantage will be able to directly market its OASymbio software to Canon digital press customers

Janet Cain, director and assistant general manager of production systems for the imaging systems group at Canon USA, said: "To capitalise on the growth of digital printing, commercial printers need to better manage and control all phases and processes within the entire digital workflow.

Adobe Systems is making it easier to print Adobe PDF files with its release of the latest in Acrobat product family.
The addition of Objective Advantage to the Imagepress workflow solution programme is another example of how Canon is helping digital press customers gain new efficiencies, automate processes and streamline jobs from submission through the production process." By connecting the print service provider's plant directly to its web-to-print systems, Objective Advantage said that OASymbio expedites the acceptance and processing of recurring print jobs.
It then automatically sends the complete job instructions needed for producing that job to the press and finishing devices.
To improve the profitability for short-run jobs, OASymbio additionally provides the ability to gang similar jobs to be run at a more efficient quantity and scheduled time, added the company.
The automated system is also said to enable print service providers to complete jobs faster with fewer errors and at a reduced cost.
On the Canon USA stand - 1400 - at AIIM On Demand 2007 in Boston, visitors will see a demonstration of OASymbio Desktop being used to automate production of brochure applications, which will be printed on the Canon Imagepress C7000VP digital press.
The C7000VP digital press is said to provide consistent print speed at 70 pages-per-minute (ppm) for letter-sized output in colour, regardless of the weight of the media, combining productivity with offset image quality output.
The printed brochures will then be finished by a Duplo DC-645 production colour finisher.
Additionally Objective Advantage will be demonstrating OASymbio Desktop on the Duplo stand - 400.
There, various spring-themed greetings cards applications will be processed through OASymbio Desktop, and printed on Xerox's Docucolor 260 with Fiery RIP and then finished on a Duplo DC-645 production colour finisher.
According to Gareth O'Brien, chief executive officer of Objective Advantage, the demonstrations will show how the introduction of automated workflow systems can significantly increase overall production efficiencies throughout the digital workflow.
He commented: "OASymbio is designed to smooth the flow of jobs through the plant by decreasing manual intervention.
This maximises the overall efficiency of the production process leading to increased profitability.
OASymbio Desktop streamlines and speeds up the process of accurately capturing all data required to process a print job during the pre-press stage, which is subsequently transmitted along the production line from start to finish.".
