Oce-Technologies has received a Cadalyst Labs five-star, highly recommended rating for its TCS400 scanner - the company's newest large format technical document colour multifunction system.

The TCS400 is claimed by Oce to be the first and only fully integrated large format colour print, copy and scan system designed for organisations using CAD, GIS and other software applications.

The scanner received top-of-the-line 'A' grades in all categories-quality, speed and ease-of-use-in the Cadalyst test report.

The review awarded an A+ to the scanner's ease-of-use-the only scanner to receive such a high mark in this category said Oce.

The report cited the scanner's LCD panel on the right of the machine as excellent, relatively sizable and easy-to-read.

It also highlighted that the scanner features make it fast and easy to operate, potentially saving significantly on time and maximising the productivity of the operator.

The review ranked the scanner as 'highly recommended' and it was defined as 'superior to others in its class.' The in-depth evaluation praised the Oc? scanner's colour fidelity and quality; its fast and easy scanning across a network and its ability to scan to 10 destinations, such as to workstations on the network, to the web via an FTP site and to off-site locations.

According to Ron LaFon, contributing editor for Cadalyst Magazine: "This is a very sophisticated and well-designed scanner that incorporates many state-of-the-art features.

IT is as easy to use as simply pressing a button-a prime example of technology helping you work faster and easier." Cadalyst evaluated the large format scanners based on three factors: quality, speed and ease-of-use in a scanning test using a topographical map.

Each scanner was tested with optimal settings to confirm that lines were generally complete; broken lines did not merge into continuous lines; colours rendered accurately without obscuring detail and (with monochrome scanners) the representation of a given colour in grey did not obscure important detail in the original.
