Jan Dix, a member of Oce's board in Kuala Lumpur, said: "Increased distribution power and continuing technology innovation are cornerstones of our growth strategy.
Expanding our sales presence in Asia is a key element in our growth strategy.
The Oce Varioprint 6250 is a breakthrough product, bringing new benefits to Asian customers.
There is strong demand for this product here." Oce said that over 80 per cent of the jobs produced on high volume cutsheet systems (up to eight million prints per month) are double-sided prints, according to market studies.
But all existing systems are designed for simplex printing.
The Varioprint 6250 uses Oce's Gemini Instant Duplex technology and is claimed to be the only digital printer in the world that can produce up to 250 prints per minute without breakdowns.
Dix explained: "Today, worldwide there are some 25,000 high volume cutsheet systems in the end-user document market and this market is to a large extent in the hands of two major suppliers.
As stated in March 2006, Oce has the ambition to take 20 per cent of this worldwide market in the next five years." Oce has direct sales and service operations in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Via the Oce Asia Hub group based in Singapore, the company said its business operations are co-ordinated with distributors throughout east, south and central Asia.
In 2005 Oce acquired Imagistics, a distributor of office printing systems in the USA.
Imagistics has experience dealing with Asian suppliers, including Sharp, Toshiba, KonicaMinolta, Brother and Muratec, added the company.
