Liverpool City Council has invested in generic printing and a CPS900 Platinum colour system to meet the graphic arts requirements, which are all underpinned with Oce's Prisma workflow software.
Amongst other applications, the software suite allows the council's 15,000 employees to submit larger and more complex jobs online to ensure the best use of resources, added Oce.
Tony McNulty, document production manager at the Liverpool City Council Resolution Centre, said: "The Oce system has allowed us to devise and implement a single document management strategy across the whole council.
We are now producing around 13 million items per year, including training manuals, public information fliers, planning documents, leaflets and variable data documents, such as council tax bills and employee pay slips." He continued: "Oce ran training courses for Resolution Centre staff, to ensure the equipment could be used to its maximum potential.
The overall investment has increased our output by over 100 per cent and still provides us with additional capacity, which we hope to utilise by undertaking work for surrounding local authorities.
It will also allow us to develop our e-commerce capability.
As a local authority, it is important to provide best value for money for council tax payers and we feel this system achieves that." Roy Bartholomew, Oce UK's national sales manager for the public sector, commented: "Liverpool City Council is one of the largest local authorities in the UK.
The creation of a single unit - the Resolution Centre - to handle its print, mail and scanning was a positive step forward and we are pleased to have played a key role in the process.
Our Prisma workflow software provides an easy to use platform across the network and offers potential to further expand the centre's services and capabilities.".
