Oce unveils spooling program for Windows

Oce has released Prismaspool, which provides cost-effective spooling capabilities for Windows operating systems, with no need for a complex high-end output management system.

Prismaspool complements Windows-based printing operations with such functions as error recovery, reprints or accounting.

It provides an easy-to-use spooling system, and all features required for heavy-duty professional printing, particularly in transactional and mailing applications.

It allows users to spool jobs in PCL, Postscript and PDF format.

It can drive anything from desktop printers up to Oce continuous-feed PCL systems at rated speed, and includes full-colour support.

Data can be received from multiple environments and heterogeneous networks are supported.

LPR can be used for legacy systems, and integrated viewers allow the user to preview jobs.

Jobs can be stopped and restarted, while page range printing ensures efficient operation.

Printers can be controlled using form name and job class, giving the operator better control over the mounted forms and the priority of the output.

Prismaspool can also transfer data via networks to and from other servers or printers.

It provides features that enhance the Windows Job Ticket with accounting and spool extensions, while input filters permit job automation.

Further features for professional users include LDAP, SNMP and Unicode support, PCL barcode translation, remote administration web monitoring and a high level of security.

Thanks to its PJL capabilities, it allows automatic error recovery, ensuring output integrity.

Integrated printer checks, for example, can generate an alarm if job, form and device properties do not match, while a reprint queue can save jobs until they have been successfully completed.

Accounting enables users to control and charge back the costs related to spooling and printing.
