Onevision's software products for automated control, correction and optimisation of PDF files have been found PDF-compliant by the Ghent PDF Workgroup The newest versions of Asura Pro, Asura and Speedflow Check are compliant with Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) specifications

The Ghent PDF Workgroup is an international congress of graphic arts professionals established to create, test and disseminate best practices and specifications for publishing workflows.

The current specifications cover advertising for newspapers or for magazines, commercial sheet or web offset printing, as well as commercial gravure offset printing.

Onevision said its upcoming versions of Asura Pro, Asura, and Speedflow Check were found to be 100 per cent compliant with all nine GWG specifications.

The software allows the checking of all incoming files for compliancy with individual specifications.

For increased efficiency they also adapt incoming PDF, EPS and Postscript files to conform to particular GWG specifications said the company.

Onevision said that the PDF engine allows automatic normalisation of a PDF 1.5 or 1.4 file, including JBIG2 decompression, transparency checks and native PDF flattening into a basic PDF 1.3 file that can be immediately adapted to a GWG compliant PDF file, where possible.

If specific production requirements necessitate output deviating from those specifications - such as EPS output or different PDF settings - the software can generate such output automatically without any manual intervention, claimed Onevision.

The company added that it supplies all GWG specifications within sealed profiles deploying its sealed document technology, which is a concept to enhance document quality assurance and control over output.

Onevision believes it provides reliable supplier-to-receiver workflow automation at the highest level.

Sealed profiles protect and mark files as ready for output within a print and media workflow, resulting in a sealed document and are protected against any change of settings.

Using Onevision's sealed document check, a free Adobe reader and Acrobat plug-in, allows all decision makers in the publication process to have access to information about the status of documents with the convenience of an open access technology.

Frank Ladwein, Onevision's head of product marketing said: "The Ghent PDF Workgroup has put a lot of effort in to standardising incoming file delivery in print and publishing.

We are delighted to receive the group's approval for our software to simplify print and media production.".
