New PDF Reporting for Asura Enterprise
OneVision has launched the newest version of Asura Enterprise, the online file transmission system that streamlines the file flow from customer to prepress
Asura Enterprise is installed on the commercial printer's or publisher's web server, allowing their customers to transmit via a web site from any place in the world at any time, encrypted data files to Asura Enterprise.
The customer can use two ways to transfer his data files: he can print out of applications such as QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Word using Asura Direct, which is installed like a printer driver.
Or he can manually upload PDF, PostScript or EPS files.

Software Controls Pre-Press And Pressroom Costs
With the latest generation of its software - Asura 6.5 - One Vision said it can now control costs in the pre-press department and in the press-room.
The access authorisation can be configured by the publishers and commercial printers via their Asura Enterprise database.
Once sent to the Asura Enterprise web server, the data files are transferred automatically to Asura or Asura Pro.
The check, correction and optimisation capabilities of Asura or Asura Pro give the publishers and commercial printers complete control over the file quality to help secure their production.
After this process is completed the customer can receive an automatically generated email with two links to a softproof and log report.
Heinz-Willi Weller, prepress manager of rewi druckhaus in Wissen, Germany, happily states: "Using Asura Enterprise we can provide our customers with a 24 hour service without additional personnel costs.
"Because the process is fully automated our customer receives after normal working hours, even during the night if necessary, a softproof and a log report with information about the quality and printability of his transferred files.
"The next morning we have the print ready data files because the customer has already made the corrections and re-supplied the corrected files.
"Due to the reduction of unnecessary phone calls with our customers we have also reduced the costs for our order administration".
The new version 2.0 of OneVision's Asura Enterprise offers an increased user-friendly and configurable user interface to simplify its use.
In Asura Enterprise 2.0 the number of queues for automated control, correction and optimisation that can be made available to customers is no longer limited.
Additionally it is possible to assign specific queues to defined customers or customer groups so that they have access only to their relevant queues.
This reduces potential errors in the data transfer process.
The ability to also manually upload multiple files and the addition of a new compression for the print files within Asura Direct also accelerate the upload process.
If the user wishes to work with existing PDF standards (eg PDF/X-1a, Pass4Press V5 or Ghent PDF Workgroup), the commercial printer or publisher can use OneVision's 'Sealed Document Technology' to create and seal the PDF.
This PDF, a so called 'Sealed Document', can be sent as softproof to the customer.
Using 'Sealed Document Check', an Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader plugin, the customer can verify on his desktop that the PDF file has been generated 100 per cent according to the required standard.
To meet the demand of many international customers of commercial printers and publishers, the language of the user interface can now be adjusted by the customer to English, French or German.
