Process automation with Speedflow Cockpit 3.0

An OneVision Software product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Aug 25, 2006

This is the ideal complement to OneVision's Speedflow Suite generating production ready PDF files in the best possible quality and as quickly as possible.

In commercial and digital printing, OneVision's Speedflow product line is known for offering excellent, automated control, correction and optimisation of production files with Speedflow Check, comprehensive editing abilities with Speedflow Edit and the extremely quick native PDF imposition with Speedflow Impose.

The new version 3.0 of OneVision's Speedflow Cockpit is an ideal complement to this Speedflow product range.

The whole process, from data reception until the final printing, can be automated according to individual requirements.

All steps in prepress production until the final printing and archiving are linked in so-called Flowmaps that provide an ideal path through the workflow.

Even if the processing of the job seems, upon first sight, very fixed and structured, the new version of Speedflow Cockpit provides many possibilities for last-minute interventions.

User defined job instructions can be set in advance and/or quickly modified.

Examples of user-defined job instructions include the following: - Configuration for the automated control (Preflight), correction and optimization of the production file in Speedflow Check - Choice of imposition templates in AutoImpose - Definition of email addresses for email notifications Speedflow Cockpit's new 'switch' component allows more manual interventions, such as the ability to easily reroute jobs to other printers and the ability to work concurrently in applications like Speedflow Edit, Speedflow Impose or native DTP applications like e.g., InDesign or QuarkXpress using Speedflow Cockpit, manual interventions can be performed quickly, which reduces the total number of necessary flowmaps in the workflow and significantly reduces the amount of operator handling.

The complete documentation (log report) of all processes provides valuable information about all steps taken to generate a producible file.

This documentation can then be used by operators to improve the service to the customer as well as to support existing or targeted certifications (ISO).

OneVision follows the concept of open workflows.

Therefore, Speedflow Cockpit is not only an optimal complement to Speedflow Basic and the entire Speedflow Suite, but it can be combined with workflow modules and software from other third party manufacturers.
