Management information Systems (MIS) supplier Optimus will be exhibiting its new version 18 of Optimus 2020 on stand M470 at Northprint in Harrogate (UK) from April 19-21.

Management information Systems (MIS) supplier Optimus will be exhibiting its new version 18 of Optimus 2020 on stand M470 at Northprint in Harrogate (UK) from April 19-21.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see demonstrations of its new functions, including the option of complete integration with the Goldmine customer relationship management (CRM) software, for which Optimus has recently been appointed the leading UK graphic arts reseller.

Optimus sees Northprint as a crucial show, with just over half its customer base in the north of England.

Following on from the first public showing of Version 18 at the PIRA MIS Show, visitors to Northprint will be able to see 2020's additional features that are claimed to significantly increase its functions and efficiency.

They include desktop alerts, which give key performance views of production, sales and financial data.

There is a new database that is said to offer an overall performance improvement, particularly when creating reports.

Other new functions include the ability to create snapshots of a PDF file and store them with the electronic job bag.

That is said to make it easy for anyone involved in producing a job to check the actual content, including images.

Repeat jobs can be found more quickly and production time saved at several stages.

Someone on the shop floor could even use a web browser to check details within the electronic job ticket of the job being working on, claimed Optimus.

"We have already had a very positive reaction to version 18 with eight existing Optimus 2020 customers upgrading and six new customers investing in the software during the last few months," said Optimus group managing director Nicola Bisset.

The opportunity to integrate with the Goldmine CRM package provides customers with the ability to store customer and job details quickly.

Data can then be readily accessed by staff to increase efficiency when dealing with clients and potential customers, she added.

"Goldmine is already being installed at customer sites across the UK and we expect it to become increasingly popular as Optimus 2020 customers continue to upgrade to Version 18.

Goldmine can be very effective at generating sales leads and maintaining relationships with existing customers.

It can also help identify the most profitable customers and where effort and time is being wasted," commented Bisset.

Optimus said it has MIS modules covering all aspects of production, such as estimating, production scheduling, shop floor data collection and costing and has customers in virtually all printing sectors, including commercial sheet-fed and web, labels, screen, packaging and flexo.
