Optimus is using DPW to show several additions to its management information systems (MIS) product line up, including a price list estimating interface for the digital sector.

The company is joined on its stand by a major new partner, ROI Distribution.

The new partnership is claimed to add another dimension to the Optimus portfolio.

Optimus sales director, Steve Richardson, explained: "ROI has a proven track record in supplying variable data web-to-print systems to a host of industry leading digital equipment vendors, such as Xerox, Hewlett Packard and Canon.

This combination of Optimus MIS and ROI products will provide a level of integration that the digital print sector has been demanding for some time." Visitors to the Optimus stand at DPW - number 532 - can see demonstrations of a full suite of web-to-print systems from ROI Distribution, including products such as Xralle and Pageflex, which are claimed to streamline all aspects of web-to-print variable data production.

Also new on the Optimus stand is Optimus 2020 Quicksmart, which the company believes represents a step forward in MIS technology and features.

Optimus 2020 Quicksmart (QS) incorporates several changes, including improved auditing and work-in-progress capabilities, greater support for fast turn-around jobs and for group functionality.

The capture of unplanned costs and extras is also an integral part of a new improved digital Optimus QS system.

In addition, Optimus is demonstrating a new estimating interface called Price List Estimating (PLE), which has been developed to cater for the speed, changes and demands of a modern digital environment, said the company.

The new interface is claimed to enable the creation of estimates and jobs for any type of product, whilst at the same time providing production route choices.

PLE, in combination with Optimus QS, will facilitate integration with a range of digital equipment, claimed Optimus.

Other new products on the stand include Optimus Analysis, a method of interrogating the data in Optimus 2020 to provide information in an interactive style that can be used to question strategies and grow the business, said the company.

In addition to its core product that provide JDF connectivity with multiple pre-press, press and post-press vendors, Optimus is showing the new Optimus Connect facility, which is a method of obtaining continuing production data from equipment on the shop floor without using JDF or JMF technology.

As long as the hardware, such as press, folder and guillotine, for instance, emits an electronic signal then Connect can use those signals to transmit data to the Optimus 2020 MIS system.
