Northprint Crucial For MIS Firm
Management information Systems (MIS) supplier Optimus will be exhibiting its new version 18 of Optimus 2020 on stand M470 at Northprint in Harrogate (UK) from April 19-21.
All materials, outwork and labour are recorded in detail by the MIS system, said Optimus and the company has extended the opportunity to use the information to study trends within the work being handled.
Other new features include the ability to set authority spend levels within the company, which prevents individuals placing orders for amounts greater than their approved level.
Optimuss' sales director Steve Richardson said: "All of the expanded functions have been developed in partnership with key customers who operate within the digital printing sector, which gives us tremendous confidence in taking the new software to market.

The latest version of Optimus QS has been made even faster and more user friendly, incorporating several new features and improvements." He added: "The new task dairy facility allows users to view tasks for a given time and date, allowing them to easily identify what should be happening that day and for the coming days either with a single type of task, an individual department, specific job or for the whole company.
For example, it can highlight what proofs are due to be sent within the next hour or the next 24 hours." He also explained that he task diary facility also allows the user to see the required production times and material quantities for those tasks.
It is updated in real time from the Optimus remote data collection module, ensuring accurate information on the activities that remain to be carried out.
Operators can also select to view completed tasks to compare estimated and actual times, quantities and costs.
Richardson added: "The Optimus Price List Estimating package has also been upgraded and we look forward to showing visitors at DPW.
The software was designed to create estimates very quickly without the need of an experienced estimator and was targeted at the digital print market, where it has been very successful.
Digital printers want the maximum amount of job information for the minimum amount of keying and often operate in an environment where the selling price is already agreed.
What they need is the ability to see how they can best make a profit when the final unit price is fixed." He continued: "Over the last two years the development that has taken place with Optimus QS and PLE has been significant.
We have incorporated huge flexibility within the software to enable users to tailor their Optimus MIS to match the modern day demands of a digital print business.
This means that, combined with the ability to integrate Optimus with third party applications, as the customer's digital business grows, Optimus can evolve with the day to day workflow needs.".
