The latest contract requires OTM to deliver electronic billing to Avis UK and European customers in accordance with the tightest security considerations, said OTM.

Invoices are distributed using a 'push' strategy by delivering an email to the customer containing a digitally signed document.

Users also have the option to request copies and download compressed 'zip' versions.

Avis back office staff has access to a customer portal providing on-line viewing of the documents.

The system was first used in Germany and tested thoroughly before release to UK customers in February 2006, according to OTM.

The company added that following a noticeable reduction in postage costs, increased accessibility for customers and reduction in environmental impact, Avis is rolling out the system across all European counterparts.

Bob Short of Avis said: "This agreement reflects our strategy to streamline costs, reduce the environmental impact of physical mail and move towards a brighter electronic future." Avis Europe, the leading car rental company in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, has been a valued client of OTM since November 2001.

OTM now distributes over four million documents annually on Avis's behalf.

OTM commented that it has developed successful added value service, which as well as electronic billing, includes exceptions handling and the company's O42 marketing message software that allows Avis flexibility and control of its documents on-line.
