Environmental champion Gill Rees of OTM, has spent the last year working towards a qualification to further the award of ISO 14001 accreditation.

Environmental champion Gill Rees of OTM, has spent the last year working towards a qualification to further the award of ISO 14001 accreditation, which is on schedule for 2006 with stage one already achieved ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised environmental management system standard and preferred choice for organisations looking to demonstrate their environmental credentials, said OTM

Rees, who has qualified with a certificate in environmental management from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, has been at the forefront of OTM's environmental waste management efforts and has secured a 35 per cent reduction in the amount of non-recyclable waste during the last year, said the company.

OTM said that its commitment to the environment is reflected by company owner Peter De Haan who founded the Peter De Haan Charitable Trust, which supports a number of conservation efforts , including a collection of schemes in conjunction with the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.

OTM's ethos is to meet environmental goals and help sustain resources for future generations, added the company.

For this financial year OTM has pledged to achieve a three per cent energy saving against 2005, whilst reducing the number of consumables with potential environmental impact by five per cent and to reduce the amount of solid waste sent to landfill by two per cent.
