A leading car rental company has worked with OTM to develop an e-billing system, which will meet Europe's tightest data security regulations.
The award reflects upon environmental achievements of the previous year and, as OTM has continued to actively reduce its environmental impact, the company is hopeful of taking home the prize for best environmental contribution from a business.
The company's efforts were further rewarded in 2006 when OTM achieved the quality standard for environmental management, ISO 14001.
This year OTM achieved 84 per cent on its previous year's figures, inthe reduction of waste to landfill and recycled 95 per cent of its waste.
The increase was the culmination of efforts by staff to follow new 'greener' business initiatives and the implementation of new strategies suggested by staff for the cause.
OTM said that in striving to move higher up the waste hierarchy, targets for reduction of waste paper form part of an continuing company-wide strategy for continual improvement.
Environmental initiatives have lead to increased cost savings for OTM and the company, recognising that 'Reuse' is also high on the environmental hierarchy, returns MDF ram-bundling (packaging) to suppliers, both reducing waste to landfill and creating cost savings for OTM and its business partners.
Other plans for a more environmentally-responsible future at OTM include a reduction of energy usage by investment in new lighting for premises in both OTM sites at Leicester and Swindon.
The company is currently working with business partners Xerox, Kern and IBM to minimise energy usage of machines.
All efforts towards a 'greener' future form part of a strategy formed over three and-a-half years ago and managed by Gill Rees, OTM's environmental officer.
With 230 employees and 150,000 square feet of space across two sites, the company believes it is well placed to make a lasting contribution towards a more environmentally aware future for all.
