Pelagon, the UK-based developer of business process management (BPM) software, has licensed the Jaws PDF Courier SDK from Global Graphics Software Global Graphics is a developer of high-performance systems for document creation, management and printing that will enable Pelagon's clients to submit all material destined for print as PDFs from their desktop

The first implementation of Pelagon's solution aimed at the digital print market is called Web2Print and was launched on the Heidelberg stand at Digital Print World in London in November 2003.

This followed a period of close co-operation with Global Graphics during the development and trial phases and between Pelagon and its partners Heidelberg UK and Onevision UK.

Heidelberg demonstrated Web2Print with its Nexpress digital presses.

Pelagon's agreement with Global Graphics will enable Pelagon to offer systems based on Jaws PDF Courier technology as an option.

It will be offered in conjunction with Spinnaker Nett, the Pelagon software framework libraries that form the base of all the Company's business and project management for reprographics, print production and publishing, as well as advertising and marketing services.

Web2Print is a derivative of Spinnaker Nett.

David Parker Pelagon's chief executive officer and co-founder said: "The Jaws PDF Courier technology removes the problem of the submission of multiple file formats to the print environment.

Many of our clients don't want native application files or even PDF files that have been generated to an unknown standard.

By using technology from Global Graphics we will ensuring that we get good files right from the point of origin." He also commented that whilst the printing industry is an important market for the company it is not its only focus as it deals with several other business sectors, many of which use Microsoft products.

Global Graphics' software development kit for PDF document delivery is in use around the world by systems integrators, software developers and OEMs with installations in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe and the USA.

Easy to deploy and automated it can integrate with virtually any print service provider and any production workflow from corporate in-plant and quick printing to digital printing and CTP for high-end applications, said the company.

Parker added: "We looked at other products, but Global Graphics provided the best overall solution for us.

The software does what it says it will and the general technical support, updates and dealings with Global Graphics made our life simple." Global Graphics had continually helped and supported the development and trial phases of Web2Print, said Global Graphics' PDF European sales director James Bidewell.

"I am excited about this opportunity as it brings together leading edge technology into a comprehensive but flexible solution that will provide benefits for both printers and their customers.

Pelagon has used its understanding of the digital print market and extensive technical skills to integrate both hardware and software into a streamlined offering," he commented.
