Pindar today announced a GBP 2 million investment with its latest acquisition of a 10-unit colour perfector press.

Based at Preston (UK) Pindar's specialist sheetfed operations site, the latest generation press delivers a range of economical publishing options and extends workflow opportunities across Pindar's manufacturing locations, said the company.

Vin Almond at Pindar says: "The decision to invest is based on our commitment to improve the way in which we plan, manage and produce on behalf of our customers.

We now offer the widest range of higher and lower production runs, delivering sheet-fed qualities with the economies of web.

We work hard and closely with our customers to better understand and anticipate needs for high-quality publishing and more efficient and faster ways of producing their information-rich publishing requirements.

We also continually test paper stocks that help our customers maximise their budgets and improve the look and feel of their published materials." Rapid scheduling has been enhanced by compatible press and pre-press technologies, added flexibility of on-line proofing, ability to preset production requirements, automatic plate changing and power-saving benefits.

Full colour catalogue sections can be printed in one press pass, including specific brand colours.

With only one press pass, that saves time and reduces marking or sheet distortion on difficult stocks said Pindar.

In perfected mode, 13,000 sheets per hour can be produced.

The Rapida 105 10-unit is the first KBA press to be installed at Pindar and is scheduled to be fully operational by June.
