Pindar yesterday announced its successful collaboration with Logos Group to provide translation for Thermo Electron.

Pindar yesterday announced its successful collaboration with Logos Group to provide translation for Thermo Electron Pindar claimed that it is the world's largest supplier of content management software for cataloguers

The company said that it has many years of experience producing catalogues in multiple-language versions, working closely with its global customers.

The company's Agility software includes added functions to support efficient and flexible multi-lingual workflows, said Pindar.

The software features split-screen editing interfaces for side-by-side language comparisons and an XML import and export mechanism for integration with Logos Group's own web-based translation management platform, Logosys.

Pindar added that research proves that success in international markets is increased by having local language content for websites and printed catalogues.

However, many companies find that difficult to achieve because of their complex publishing infrastructure, even when they use a content management system other than Agility.

The major headache for those international companies is the effective integration of a content management database with a translation tool, believes Pindar.

Martyn Brougham, at Pindar said: "Many businesses don't take full advantage of the opportunities that are available to them within the European Union.

One factor is the perceived practical difficulties of creating and managing multi-lingual information for thousands of products.

By combining our software with a sophisticated translation partner like Logos these opportunities can be opened up." Logos Group is a language software company with 25 years' expertise serving many of the world's leading organisations, said Pindar.

Diana Ballard, Logos's UK sales and marketing director, said: "Our collaboration with Pindar's Agility provides one of the most powerful combined technology solutions on the market for managing the translation process and content for complex publishing needs.

The Agility and Logosys software ensures that from content creation, translation and client review, to uploading files to memory systems, the entire translation process is streamlined and is delivered via a highly-controlled workflow.

Our rapid X-filter system and sophisticated file sorting technology distributes optimised files to specialist translators for best quality and consistent translation needs." Carlotta Bulgarelli, the engineering manager at Logos Group, added: "Our unique X-filter system offers an intelligent and rapid filtering of content as part of the same process.

It provides a controlled translation workflow with added flexibility to easily identify and filter content requiring translation.

File settings can also be continuously customised, selecting tags such as product names, which remain protected in all translated versions." Thermo Electron has just produced its first catalogue using Agility software, added Pindar.

The company said that Agility enables global businesses to collate, co-ordinate and manage content-rich information in a centralised uniform platform.

That supports full management of the accurate data, which can then be easily used to output to a catalogue in multiple languages, or stored and accessed for future production requirements.

Agiity version 2.2 will be showcased at VAD-Expo, the distance selling and direct marketing exhibition from October 11 - 13 in Lille (France) - stand J12.
