Pindar Produced Catalogue's Resounding Success
Pindar today announced Linda Barker's new retail mail order catalogue design is a resounding success.
At Tewkesbury alone we've managed to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill from the factory by 50 per cent over the last few years." The company said that green team will undertake a number of actions to manage paper waste streams within the business using measurable key performance indicators.
Pindar Graphics is currently investing in a variety of new data capture facilities to monitor paper consumption on a monthly basis, it added.
A best practice guide covering the paper handling process, which is currently in draft form, will also enable every member of the green team to educate colleagues throughout the business, said the company.
Smith explained: "We will also give each key purchase an energy appraisal, particularly with components such as compressors, chillers and afterburners, which consume high levels of energy.
Printers have a duty of care to show their environmental conscience to customers and I will be working closely with all our site champions to ensure the business makes further strides to reduce its impact on the environment." Andrew Dalton, Pindar Group's chief executive officer, added: "One of our priorities for the business is to have all our sites meeting the ISO 14001 standard.
Tewkesbury and Aylesbury already have the standard and can share useful insights and best practice.
By setting up a dedicated green team across our UK operations we are committed to playing an increasingly prominent role in helping to create a more sustainable environment for the future." Pindar Graphics added that it has already achieved environmental accreditation from the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) because the paper used at the company's sites originates from sustainable and eco-friendly sources.
The company has also acquired the approval of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) at its sites in Scraborough and Tewkesbury.
In 2007, Pindar announced an innovative partnership with Earthwatch, one of the world's leading environmental organisations as part of a change management programme that will benefit its employees, customers and suppliers across the world, the company believes.
