Presstek is introducing two new CTP models for DI presses at Drupa 2004 in association with its press manufacturing partners And the company said it had taken orders for over 30 of the new Dimension CTP systems in the first five days of the show

The CTP systems are being demonstrated Presstek's OEM partners on the Ryobi 3404X DI, KBA 46 Karat Plus, and KPG Directpress 5634 DI presses.

Presstek's director of DI marketing Stan Najmr said: "Visitors from around the globe are truly impressed by the level of automation and by the quality of the printed sheet, the details and colours are outstanding." The second CTP model is the new, lower cost, entry-level model said Presstek, which said it implements precisely the right balance of automation, quality, and price and is designed to significantly broaden the market for DI technology.

Presstek's DI partners are scheduled to deliver this new entry-level DI press system during the second half of 2004 with a very competitive purchase price, the company added.

Presstek has also announced the new Dimension Excel CTP system, which uses Presstek's process-free Applause plates and chemistry-free Anthem plates.

Based on new Profire Excel imaging technology, Dimension Excel platesetters produce up to 20 plates an hour.

Presstek has reported that visitors to Drupa have been enthusiastic about the high-level of output quality achieved by the Dimension Excel systems and with the systems' new automation features.

"We believe the level of sales activity demonstrates that Presstek's chemistry-free and process-free computer-to-plate solutions are attractive for a broad array of print producers," said David Ventola, Presstek's general manager of off-press products.

Dick, the Vector TX 52 utilises Presstek's new Surefire imaging and chemistry-free Freedom plates.

Presstek's director of off-press Marketing, John O'Rourke said: "The Vector TX 52 is one of the hottest CTP products at the show.

It is engineered with the smaller commercial printer in mind.

The Vector TX 52's chemistry-free imaging, high quality metal plates, and prices that are competitive with polyester based CTP plates are an outstanding combination.

In addition, it will allow us to expand its market reach to the small commercial printer." Presstek's president and chief executive officer Edward Marino said: "So far, this has been a very exciting Drupa for Presstek.

Our distribution network and their customers have enthusiastically embraced our new products.

But, to me, the most exciting aspect of the show has been the validation of Presstek's product strategy and business direction.

The industry has recognised that process-free plates and direct imaging are the sustaining technologies for offset printing.".
