Large format CtP system demonstrated
Presstek demonstrated the Dimension800 platesetter for the first time in Europe at IPEX.
The media and laser system provides a 16-micron laser spot at 2540dpi while supporting FM (stochastic), hybrid screening, and AM (conventional) up to 300 lines per inch (120 lines per centimetre).
Presstek claims Profire media has an automated easy cleaning process that improves efficiency and it supports a wide range of waterless inks with uniform ink lay-down resulting in a faster rise to colour.
The company also said the product produces less paper waste, whilst using less ink and achieving run lengths up to 20,000 for chemistry-free, environmentally friendly printing.
Peter Bouchard, Presstek's general manager of on-press imaging said: "With the new generation of DI presses, printers now have more flexibility to provide their customers with high quality, short run colour printing at a low cost per page.
The cost and production barriers of printing 300 line screen work have been removed as it can now be done with the push of a button." Initially, Profire Digital Media will be sold for use with Profire Excel enabled DI presses.
The company said that future planned enhancements are expected to make the plate material available for use with the entire range of Presstek-enabled DI presses.
