New CTP Variants Extend Options For More Printers
Presstek has launched four new configurations of its chemistry-free Dimension Excel computer-to-plate (CTP) systems.
Presstek has launched four new configurations of its chemistry-free Dimension Excel computer-to-plate (CTP) systems.
Currently being delivered in North America, Dimension Excel CTP systems are now available in standard and high-productivity models said the company.
John O'Rourke, Presstek's marketing director for off-press imaging solutions said: "The new Dimension Excel models are configured to meet the needs of a wide variety of printing operations.
These new additions to the Dimension family feature our latest Profire Excel imaging technology that was first shown at Drupa 2004.
We are pleased to bring to the market important productivity and quality enhancements, as well as more flexibility and a new streamlined look." The four new Dimension Excel models include Dimension 225 Excel, a two-page platemaker featuring semi-automatic plate loading and unloading and plate production at up to a claimed 11 plates per hour.
It is claimed by the company to be upgradeable to the Dimension 425 Excel.
The 425 Excel model itself is a four-page platemaker with semi-automatic plate loading and unloading, plate production up to 11 plates per hour, and a larger image size than previous models added Presstek.
Dimension 250 Excel is said to be a two page high-productivity platemaking system featuring automated loading with plate prestaging.
That allows an upgrade path to full automation when the Dimension is equipped with an automated plate handling system (output conveyor, wash unit and stacker).
An optional automated plate loading system for unattended operation is scheduled to be available in the second half of 2005.
The Dimension 250 Excel supports platemaking at up to 17 plates per hour and is upgradeable to a Dimension 450 Excel said the company.
The 450 Excel model is a four page version of the 250 Excel and features a larger image size than previous models.
According to O'Rourke: "The Excel design provides a high degree of flexibility, enabling an expanded range of system configurations with format size, price point and productivity levels to meet the broadest range of customer needs." With the announcement of the new Dimension Excel models, Presstek said it is continuing to bring innovation to the rapidly changing CTP market.
In addition to the smaller footprint and new styling of the new systems, they incorporate a number of technological advancements.
All Dimension Excel models feature Profire Excel imaging with new laser diode packages and improved imaging electronics and a smaller 16-micron spot size.
Dimension Excel supports Presstek's Anthem, Applause, and Pearl Dry chemistry-free thermal plates added the company.
"One of the key challenges facing small to mid-sized printers in today's market is the need to extract cost from print production operations in order to better meet competitive market challenges.
The introduction of high-productivity Dimension Excel models brings unprecedented levels of productivity to any print operation.
Combined with the elimination of chemistry-related costs, these new systems are a win/win for our customers and the industry at large," said Edward J.
Marino, Presstek's president and chief executive officer.
