A B Dick will close its Niles office and relocate its inside sales staff and other limited customer facing operations to a new facility in the Chicago area and Presstek and A B Dick will function as a unified entity and will report as a single business unit.
Edward J Marino, the president and chief executive officer of Presstek, commented: "The continuing integration of the Presstek and A B Dick businesses is moving forward and has shown positive results.
We are committed to fully optimising the business assets acquired with A B Dick and to maximising our new channel's efficiencies.
This commitment has led us to the conclusion that the time was right for us to accelerate our integration process by more fully uniting Presstek's and A B Dick's operations and to function as one company.
The changes are designed to better serve our customers and deliver increased value for our shareholders." The plan does not call for the relocation of either the A B Dick warehouse operation in Des Plaines, Illinois, or current Presstek and A B Dick staff in regional offices in North America, Europe and other worldwide locations.
Moosa E Moosa, the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Presstek, added: "We anticipate that the centralisation will be substantially complete in early 2006.
As one would expect, this centralisation and relocation will result in some incremental additions to staff at Presstek's Hudson headquarters.
We expect the actions related to this announcement will yield increased cost savings from the previously announced annualised run-rate level of $7 million to $8.5 million.".
