Presstek's DI Equipped Presses To Fore At Drupa
Presstek manufacturer and marketer of digital imaging systems is showcasing its array of Profire enabled DI presses at Drupa 2004.
Stan Najmr, the DI director for Presstek, said: "The Golden Product award validated the overwhelming interest that the Presstek 52DI received from attendees - people were amazed by its print quality, speed and ease-of-use.
The press is up to three times faster than a conventional 52cm landscape press in the time it takes to produce work - from file to printed sheet.
In addition, the 52DI's automation reduces the steps and labour involved in the process, resulting in a substantial profitability advantage over a comparative conventional press." Presstek said that one of the advantages of all its DI presses is the ability to print on 0.5mm board and plastic, which increases the spectrum of short run printed products and provides a competitive edge to owners of Presstek DI presses.
The company believes that judging from the response at Printing and Packing 2006, there is a pent-up demand from print service providers who want to tap in to the short-run colour growth market by producing high quality printing fast, efficiently and profitably.
Presstek claimed that its 52DI machine provides printing of up to 10,000 impressions per hour at 300 lines per inch (lpi) and supports FM screening without incurring additional time or expense.
Total make-ready is accomplished in approximately 10 minutes, including plate imaging and coming up to colour within about 20 sheets.
The company added that the waterless technology of the landscape format 52DI press, in addition to the 2:1 roll out ratio of the 52DI's ink train, provide the benefits of unparalleled ink coverage and the ability to print solids more easily.
The 52DI's landscape orientation and 52cm design (520mm x 375mm or 20.47" x 14.76" sheet size) supports efficient sheet utilisation and addresses a wider range of applications.
