Presstek has announced that the B and H group in Watford (UK) was highly commended in the MetalFX printer of the year award for work printed using Presstek Anthem Pro digital plates.

The B and H group withstood stiff worldwide competition to reach the finals, added Presstek.

MetalFX is a design and print technology that is said to produce vibrant, metallic colours from a choice of thousands by using the usual CMYK set and the MetalFX base silver ink.

Stefan Boyle, managing director of the B and H group, said: "We were delighted to have done so well because this was the first time we had entered the competition.

The results that we can now achieve using the Anthem Pro plates are the best ever.

Added, to this, we asked Mark Mayers to design the promotional piece.

His work shows a real understanding of how to get the most out of MetalFX colours and effects, which earned him the MetalFX designer of the year award." The company installed a chemistry-free Presstek Dimension platesetter three and-a-half years ago and recently transitioned to Presstek's Anthem Pro plates.

Anthem Pro plates are claimed to only need a water rinse after imaging to prepare the plate for printing.

They also have the advantage of Presstek's Pro graining, added the copmpany.

The gradation of tones on pictures make for much more vivid and realistic results, whilst the tints are sharper and cleaner looking.

Boyle explained: "Presstek is one step ahead of the competition.

The Dimension platesetter is an excellent machine.

It's 'green', it's productive and is giving us superb quality.

The latest Anthem Pro plates give a superior dot, greater colour stability and are more user friendly.

Although the work we have produced to date using MetalFX is only for promotional purposes, it's opening a lot of doors and generating interest amongst our customer base.

It's only a matter of time before we start using it for production jobs.".
