Presstek Inc will demonstrate its range of systems and services at Medprint from April 19 - 22 at the Nueva Fiera in Rome (Italy).

On the stand of Presstek's distributor Digraph in Hall 7, (stands C16/D15 and C22/D21) Presstek will feature its DI press and chemistry-free CTP systems designed for printers seeking a faster way to profitably print short-run colour work.

Presstek's 52DI digital offset press is said to be suitable for quick turn-around, short-run high quality colour printing.

The automated 52cm landscape sheetfed four-colour digital offset printing press combines the efficiency of an all-digital workflow with the versatility and quality of a conventional waterless press, said Presstek.

The 52DI at Medprint will also feature an in-line UV dryer, delivering a glossy and shiny effect even on low quality media and on plastics.

Also on show will be the Presstek 34DI digital offset press, a two-page, four-colour, 34cm portrait format machine that is said to produce 7,000 A3 sheets per hour.

All four plates are imaged simultaneously in precise register.

File-to-sellable printed sheet occurs in 10 minutes, claimed the company, whilst the DI press prints up to 10,000 impressions per hour with a maximum print area of 20.07" x 14.17" per sheet, which is claimed to be one of the largest print areas available in its class.

The streamlined workflow reduces the time and cost to turn a job around and provides up to 300 lines per inch (lpi) and FM screening, whilst handling a range of substrates up to 20pt.

(0.5mm).

Presstek said that the press's users report that the machines are twice as profitable as conventional offset and up to four times more profitable than copier-based technology for short-run colour according to recent Infotrends market data.

The company said that DI presses help printers meet the demand for short-run, fast turn-around, high quality colour printing at lower costs, whilst improving their productivity, efficiency and quality levels.

Presstek explained that DI presses offer traditional offset and digital printers the most profitable option for meeting the demand for quick turn-around, short-run high quality colour printing.

The sheetfed presses combine the efficiency of an all-digital workflow with the versatility and quality of a conventional offset press.

The company added that DI press users define run lengths of 250 to 10,000 impressions as the 'sweet spot' for the press, according to Infotrends market study.

Printers can exploit the cost efficiencies of the press for a competitive advantage in the expanding short-run colour market.

In addition, the DI's time saving features and faster drying time of waterless ink enable the fast-turn around of high quality print jobs, including same day service, with file to sellable sheet is achieved in 10 minutes, claimed Presstek.

The DI's design, digital imaging capabilities and range of automated functions supports up to 300lpi production and FM screening without incurring additional expense or time and it prints on a range of substrates from 0.06 mm to 0.5 mm thick, added Presstek.

The waterless press design is also said to eliminate ink and water balance issues and produces luminous colour consistently sheet-to-sheet and job-to job.
