Presstek has filed a complaint with the Dusseldorf District Court in Germany against Israeli printing plate manufacturer, VIM Technologies, for infringement of Presstek's patent rights.

The development follows a complaint that was filed with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) against VIM and a number of its distributors and was successful in having the ITC begin an investigation in to Presstek's patent and trademark infringement claims The company added that it is seeking an order from the ITC that will forbid the importation and sale of the VIM printing plates

James R Van Horn, Presstek's general counsel and secretary said,:"Our intellectual property is a valuable asset and we will protect it.

When we filed our ITC action against VIM earlier this year, we said that our intention was to protect against the infringement of our patent rights, wherever they were being violated.

The action in Germany is focused on protecting our rights in Europe and seeking damages for VIM's improper conduct.

This is simply our next step in the process of protecting our rights from VIM's infringement.".
