Presstek has joined the Verdigris Project as an associate member.

Verdigris is the printing industry's only international not-for-profit environmental research initiative.

The aim of Verdigris is to raise awareness of print's positive environmental impact, through co-operative content development shared with an international network of trade publishers.

Verdigris is creating a dialogue with printing markets worldwide.

Brian Wolfenden, director of marketing communications at Presstek, said: 'Presstek is supporting the Verdigris Project because it can help printers to improve their carbon footprint.

Printers today also realise that being environmentally friendly is a sound business strategy that can save them money and result in new opportunities.

I believe that the Verdigris Project will help to get more printers and print buyers educated on the social and business benefits of environmentally friendly printing on a global basis.

He added: 'Presstek, providers of high-quality, fully-integrated digital offset printing solutions and services, has joined the Verdigris Project as an associate member.

Verdigris is the printing industry's only international not-for-profit environmental research initiative.

Our DI presses eliminate plate chemistry and water from the printing process, while significantly reducing VOCs and waste.

These presses are engineered to profitably produce runs as low as 250 sheets on a wide selection of stocks.

And our chemistry-free CTP eliminates all chemistry from the plate making process.

Laurel Brunner, one of Verdigris' founders, commented: 'In supporting Verdigris Presstek is further reinforcing its commitment to helping printers operate efficiently while reducing their carbon footprints.
