Forest certification body sponsors pulp symposium

A PEFC product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Oct 20, 2008

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) has agreed a sponsorship deal to cover the British Wood Pulp Association and Hawkins Wright Symposium 2008 event.

The sponsorship is a first for PEFC and the organisation believes the move underlines its commitment to the global forest and pulp and paper industries.

Speaking about the sponsorship, PEFC director, Ross Bradshaw, said: "We are pleased to be associated with the BWPA during Pulp Week and we see this sponsorship as an important platform to enable us to further transmit information and educate those interested about PEFC, its processes and certification message." According to PEFC, the symposium has become a key event during the annual Pulp Week in London.

This year's event will be held on November 13 at Savoy Place.

Speakers at this year's event include the Right Honourable John Gummer MP, formerly Secretary of State for the Environment in the British government, who also spoke at a PEFC dinner held at the House of Lords earlier this year.

He will be joined by fellow speaker Jarmo Salonen, the executive vice president of resources at paper producer M-real, and Tom Wright and John Bingham of Hawkins Wright.
