The largest ever professional print exhibition is now on offer to Irish printers as the Print Ireland exhibition has announced its intentions to the industry Major suppliers have thrown their support behind the show in the shape of exhibition launch partners Canon, Konica Minolta (IBS), Fuji (Litho Supplies) and Sakurai (Consort Printing Machinery) in addition to supporting partners and The Irish Printing Federation, for example

Organisers Faversham House Group (FHG) said it is keen to take a fully consultative approach to the exhibition and convened the inaugural Print Ireland Advisory Committee meeting in early autumn.

The advisory committee is central to FHG's goal to produce a show by the industry, for the industry, added FHG.

The meeting brought together industry suppliers, associations and printers themselves to get a rounded picture of what the industry demands from a print exhibition.

Action points, suggestions and ideas were taken from the meeting and have been incorporated in to the FHG's planning for the event.

The advisory committee comprises Dave Ryan of Consort Printing Machinery, William Condron, of Printing and Graphic Equipment, Gerry McGivern of the Miller Group and Cormac Kennedy from Xerox.

In addition, Pat O'Shea from HP Indigo, Canon's Greg Wilson, Brian Crawford from Reprocentre and Portman Graphics' Ian Murphy represent the suppliers.

Anne Cooke of Fine Print, John Harold of Colourbooks and DC Kavanagh Ebrook's Gerry Andrews represent printers and potential visitors.

Dave Ryan of Consort Printing machinery spoke after the meeting: "It was a great success.

It was refreshing to see an exhibition organiser taking the time to canvass the views from across the industry.

There was a real sense of excitement about the event and I'm looking forward with great anticipation because I think the print industry will welcome such an all-encompassing exhibition." Exhibition director Catherine Iredale explained FHG's visitor focussed ethos: "It is vital to the success of the show that we consult widely with all stakeholders to gain a clear picture of what the industry wants to see.

The advisory committee provided vital insight and information but I would encourage printers to tell us what they want to see so we can ensure the show fully meets their needs." Print Ireland will also offer printers a forum where they can see demonstrations of presses and equipment from top names, not just in Ireland but in the wider world of print, said FHG.

One addition is the free features programme, including informative sessions focussing on industry hot topics combined with practical software workshops.
