An expanding Sheffield (UK) company is doubling its commercial space with a new development in the heart of the city.

An expanding Sheffield (UK) company is doubling its commercial space with a new development in the heart of the city.

City planners have given the go-ahead for digital printing company Pinders' plans for a mixed use development on the site of the former Swift and Goodinson premises and Becket and Garner Works on Hodgson Street, Sheffield, just a few yards from the company's main office.

The project will include 68 apartments in a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units over commercial space and basement car parking.

The development will feature floodlighting to form part of a public art strategy and the scheme incorporates green roofs and landscaped terrace areas.

Pinders said that it is investing a 'significant' amount in to its expansion and job creation plans and it is currently seeking planning permission for a new frontage to replace the traditional-looking brick-built facade of its existing premises on nearby Moore Street.

David Whiteway, joint managing director of Pinders, said: "This is a massive step for the business.

The scheme represents a significant regeneration of a run down and under-utilised industrial area with the prospect of new employment uses in a highly sustainable location.

Sheffield's skyline is rapidly transforming with new developments and, as a long established city business, we were keen to be involved in the changing face of the city.

Our machines and processes already place us at the forefront of technology and these latest expansion plans, together with our proposed existing building facelift, prove our continued commitment to Sheffield.".
