GBP50k Print Estimating Software Fuels Expansion

Sheffield (UK) digital print experts Pinders is continuing its multi-million pound expansion programme with a new software investment that is claimed to allow faster turn-around for bespoke jobs.
Pinders is installing new IT software that it said will allow more data to be sent and received from the shop floor, improve auditing and job tracking and offer greater support for fast turn-around jobs.
Pinders is installing Optimus's 2020 Quicksmart, Estimating Pro Plus and Price List Estimating software systems, worth a combined GBP50,000.
The software will be operational this month, added the company.
Quicksmart is claimed to enable higher levels of automation for management information systems (MIS) whilst price list estimating is said to allow fast creation of estimates for any type of product.
Estimating Pro Plus is said to be able to model real production processes to give accurate estimates of internal and external costs and produce written quotation letters extremely fast.
David Whiteway, joint-managing director of Pinders, said: "This is a major investment and represents a significant step forward for Pinders.
Currently we use hard copy methods for processes like job tracking, so this software will greatly improve efficiency and help us to provide a better service at the minimum of cost to our customers." Nicola Bisset, managing director of software developers Optimus, said: "With print run lengths becoming ever shorter and profit margins on jobs smaller, modern printers have to be able to handle a huge number of orders every shift.
The ethos behind this software is to enable faster progress of work throughout the workshop, allowing work-in-progress functions, such as job tracking, pricing and invoicing to be carried out very quickly." With a completely digital output, Pinders said it handles hundreds of jobs every week, based around a line-up of digital printing equipment ranging from HP Indigo to wide-format Vutek inkjet machines.
