Pinders has provided 96 architecture students from Sheffield, Huddersfield and Leeds (UK) with art materials as part of its support for a Yorkshire initiative to promote young design talent.

The Sheffield company backed Yorkshire Design Day, which was organised by the Yorkshire Regional office of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) as a collaboration between the four Schools of Architecture in the region The challenge facing the students was to find a site for a mobile architecture centre for Sheffield and produce a design, equipped only with steel rods, paper and GBP15 each

It is the first time the four schools of architecture have joined forces to tackle a design project.

Mark Whiteway, Pinders' joint managing director, said: "We are keen supporters of Yorkshire Design Day, highlighting our continuing commitment to promote art and design.

I'm passionate about investing time and resources to helping these young designers who could go on and become potential employees, customers or partners in years to come." Andrew Wilson, leader of Sheffield Hallam University's architecture and environmental design course, said: "We are grateful to Pinders for its fantastic support in helping to make this event a valuable learning experience and a showcase of the young design talent in our region.".
