Former Fujifilm Graphic Systems USA product manager Eric Neumann has joined Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF), as research manager.

In his new role, Neumann will be responsible for managing the various research efforts and projects the organisation performs for its customers, including product development and on-press testing, as well as marketing those services to others in the industry.

Neumann is a 20-year veteran of the graphic arts industry.

At Fujifilm USA he was product marketing manager for colour and proofing products and had responsibility for product development support and marketing of Fujifilm's full line of colour technologies and proofing devices, as well as acting as the company's liaison with various industry partners.

He joined Fujifilm in 1998 and held various positions, including product development manager, technical engineer and sales support specialist.

Prior to joining Fujifilm, Neumann worked as the electronic pre-press facilities manager at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he was responsible for laboratory instruction and management of the electronic pre-press laboratories at RIT's School of Printing Management and Sciences (now the School of Print Media).

Neumann has degrees in printing from RIT, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Fullerton College in the USA.

He has been an active member of various industry organisations and associations, including the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA) as a member of the Board of Directors, IPA and ICC.

Dr Mark Bohan, vice president of research and technology for PIA/GATF, said: "Eric's addition to our team emphasises the rigour with which we do our research and testing and highlights our department's high level of professionalism and expertise.

Eric brings a unique combination of experience and insight in to our industry that will no doubt be a benefit to PIA/GATF and to our clients.".
