Picon members that attended the China Print 2005 exhibition in Bejing have hailed it a success in progressing their presence and export opportunities in the Chinese market.
Helping to highlight their presence, Mrs Terry Evans, the first secretary, commercial, from the British Embassy in Beijing visited Picon's British Pavilion during the show, to lend her support.
Sheila Harper-Jones, managing director of Tectonic International, said: "China Print was a very exciting show for us and was perfectly timed for the launch in to the Chinese market of our new, K2it print inspection system.
During the show, orders were received by our agent, HOCA Enterprises Pvt for several systems and we are delighted to announce that the first K2it systems will be shipped to China this month." According to David Eaton, the managing director at Vacuumatic, who attended China Print on Picon's British Pavilion: "Having received 43 enquiries from countries outside of China, China Print is beginning to feel like a truly international exhibition.
Although we have been supplying this market for over 25 years, China Print enabled us to make excellent contacts and considerably strengthen our relationships in the security print sector.
It really proved to be a very good show for us indeed." Further positive feedback was reported by Hydro-Dynamic Products (HDP).
HDP executive director Gordon Livesey, considered the exhibition to be highly successful.
He added: "The sales growth of our consumables continues upward as the China print market itself continues to grow very rapidly.
The stand was always busy and our decision to use Chinese sales staff was certainly advantageous - we took on 10 new dealers bringing our total in China to 63." Tech-Ni-Fold managing director Graham Harris said: "Picon's British Pavilion provided an ideal opportunity for us to get a feel for the Chinese market as well as try and pick up a potential distributor.
We realised that was a tall order, but I'm delighted to say the show exceeded all our expectations and we succeeded in achieving both our objectives.
I also applaud Picon for putting together the British Pavilion and for doing everything to prepare us leading up to this event." Duco International also reported high levels of interest from importers, dealers and end users during China Print, making 250 new contacts in four and a half days, whilst obtaining five trial orders.
Picon said that its chief executive, John Brazier, was also given a warm reception at the International Forum for Printing Development, where he delivered a presentation to 300 delegates from 30 countries, on the British printing industry.
