Harrogate's Platinum Print has made a GBP100,000 investment in a new environmentally-friendly platemaker.

The Screen Platerite 4300S is claimed to eliminate all waste processing chemistry, with further enhancements to output quality, speed and improved screening technology, said the UK printing company.

Using the latest screening techniques the Platerite 4300S gives clearer and crisper detail, not just in pictures but also tinted text, added the company.

The new machine will also allow plate production to continue throughout the night, even after the company's shifts end.

Complete automation through plate size changes will enable Platinum to have greater flexibility.

Mark Plummer, Platinum Print's production director, said: "We have been at the forefront of computer to plate technology since its inception.

In this age of environmental awareness, combined with Platinum's waste reduction policy, a total elimination in waste chemistry was a major factor in the final choice of machine.
