Progressive Color Media LLC and Prepress Training Solution have announced the immediate availability of two on-line colour management training courses.

Progressive Color Media LLC, part of Flint Ink Corporation and Prepress Training Solution, the on-line training provider for the graphic arts marketplace have announced the immediate availability of two on-line colour management training courses.

The courses are 'Colour Management Theory' and 'ICC Profiling'.

The new colour management on-line training series being offered as part of Progressive Color Media's product and services portfolio, developed and delivered by Prepress Training Solution, is said to offer interactive, continuously accessible training on fundamentals of colour management, said Progressive Colour Media.

Dan Goodenow, the director of services at Progressive Color Media, said: "We're proud and excited about the new on-line colour management training courses.

The two initial courses now available are comprehensive and easy to follow and we're confident that those who take the course will become fluent in the basics of colour management and ICC profiling to more rapidly and effectively bring jobs to higher levels of productivity and predictability." Julie Jankowski, vice president of strategic development at Prepress Training Solution added: "The marketplace has been asking for quality online colour management training and we decided to partner with the experts at Progressive Color Media to make it a reality.

Both courses focus on using colour-managed workflows to increase efficiency and reduce waste with consistent, predictable colour." The colour management theory course is said to take students through everything they want to know about colour, said the company.

It will help them gain a full understanding of what colour is, how it is defined, and how they can use instrumentation to achieve colour accuracy and quality.

The curriculum also covers the basic topics involved with ICC profile-based colour management.

Topics include light source and viewing conditions, device dependent colour and device independent colour, colour management tools, gamuts, the colour management process, the benefits of colour management, and an ICC profiles overview.

The ICC profiling course will discuss what ICC profiles are and why they are necessary.

It will describe how profiles work and the course will teach users the basics of ICC profiling, including how to create and use ICC profiles, which have become essential in colour managed workflows, added the company.

The courses are available at an introductory price of $99.95 each through to May 31, when the normal price for each course is $149.95 per user.

Students can upgrade to the entire course library for $300, which includes the colour management series and a variety of pre-press and graphics training in Mac OS X and Adobe Creative Suite, amongst others.

Subscriptions include year-long access to all current courses and any new courses released during the year, said the company.
