Pantone and Quark have updated the Pantone Colour Solutions for the accurate reproduction of colour.

Pantone and Quark have updated the Pantone Colour Solutions for the accurate reproduction of colour.

Pantone said that QuarkXPress 7 offers a set of new features, including the new Pantone colour bridge coated libraries for both North American and European standards.

The colours available in these libraries are clainmed to provide the closest CMYK simulations for solid Pantone Colours when printed on coated paper.

QuarkXPress 7 also contains a library of Pantone Colour Systems, including the Matching System Colours for printing on coated, uncoated and matte papers, Pastels and Metallics, and Pantone four-colour process coated and uncoated, as well as support for Hexachrome colour separations and a special set of solid Pantone colours represented in Hexachrome.

Jurgen Kurz, senior vice president of desktop products at Quark, said: "QuarkXPress 7 is advancing the world of creativity beyond boundaries with significant workflow advancements and completely integrated colour management.

The inclusion of Pantone Colour Libraries - and most important, the new Pantone color bridge library - lets designers confidently specify colours and trust that their colour choices will reproduce as expected." Helmut Eifert, Pantone's vice president of European operations, added: "Colour-related mistakes translate into extra expense and lost time.

QuarkXPress 7 provides colour management with Pantone Colour support to ensure accurate colour reproduction from design to print.

The addition of the Pantone color bridge library provides designers with the formulae for the best possible reproduction of solid Pantone Colours in CMYK." He continued: "The Pantone color bridge guide is one of the most valuable tools a designer can have when selecting and matching colours in QuarkXPress 7.

It takes the surprise out of printing by providing a side-by-side view of Pantone Colours next to their four-colour process representations.".
